Predictive and prescriptive analytics in transportation geotechnics: Three case studies

Transportation infrastructure is of paramount importance for any country. The construction, management and maintenance this a complex task that requires significant amount resources (e.g., human work equipment, materials, costs). To better support task, in the last decades several Artificial Intelligence (AI) data analysis tools have been proposed. In paper, we summarize recent predictive prescriptive AI applications to transportation field, underlying their strategic impact. particular, discuss three case studies: design earthwork projects; prediction jet grouting soilcrete mechanical physical properties (uniaxial compressive strength, stiffness column diameter); stability level engineered slopes.
